Do Good Bloggers Go To Heaven?
Motivation June 29th, 2007
All the bloggers out there know that blogging is not always an easy task, since you’re often on a tireless hunt for the next big post. One of the hardest parts about blogging is finding that perfect post. You know, the post that everyone loves to link to, the post that gets you mentioned on your favorite blogs. The information you provide free of charge is a culmination of days, weeks, months or even years of research on your favorite topics. You’re proud of the hard work and effort that you put into that post and you have every right to be.
The satisfaction you get from doing your research and putting something down that people will enjoy is an absolute thrill for bloggers. This is what’s in it for us. For me it seems like this is a sign of the great bloggers, the truly passionate informers. Is it a true passion for a subject that leads you to do what you do? Do you enjoy helping people?
Are all good bloggers true Philanthropists? After all this is what blogging is all about, right? Blogging gives you the ability to connect with like minded individuals and provide useful information at their disposal. Information in this day and age is the great equalizer and thanks to the internet almost everyone has the ability to gain access to important information at the click of a mouse. Without bloggers some of the most important information wouldn’t be available. Bloggers make the world go round, so pat yourself on the back. By helping to keep the public informed and enlightened we are changing the way the world does business.

This is a very encouraging post, especially since I’m just starting out on my new web domain. (blogged on blogger for a while) I really do enjoy helping people, and that’s why I started www.financingyourfamily.com

Thanks, Mark! Your own domain is definitely the way to go and I like yours. I wish you the best.

Chris,
Much as I adore blogs in general, and yours in particular, I think you’re overestimating The Power of Blogging, and the role/motivation of bloggers in general.
I believe that your role is more philanthropic, and your motives high. Because yours are, that doesn’t necessarily equate to business bloggers in general.
I also think that “changing the way the world does business” is also an overestimation of The Power of Blogging. Time will tell!

Thanks, Angie. I appreciate the comment and will respectfully address your points. I think you’re right, my role may be totally different than that of someone else, not everyone has good intentions. Blogging has already changed the way the world does business, in fact some businesses use blogs as marketing tools, while other businesses have seen the power of blogs and the influence that they can have over product sales. Blogs, used the right way, are very powerful tools.

Chris,
Thanks for the reply. I’m seeing “how the world does business” somewhat differently than you. Since 40% of the world’s population (2.7 billion people) “lives” on two dollars or less a day, and an additional I-don’t-know-what percent lives in poverty somewhere above that level, it’s not really accurate to say that blogging changes how “the world” does business. It can, does, and will influence how much of the first world does business, though.
