Business Blogger: Update Consistency
Blogging May 25th, 2007
My goal as a business blogger is to help business people get started in business web development, Internet marketing, blogging, or whatever type of Internet business venture you have your eye on. If I can help just one person get a jump start then I’ve done my job. In order for you to find my site on the web there is one important topic I can’t forget to talk about:
It’s very important to update your site or blog on a consistent basis.
This boils down to keeping a schedule when it comes to updating a blog or adding new information to your website regularly. This will help you on your track to becoming a valuable information source instead of just a normal web page.
Playing the search engine angle here, the search engines see your site like this:
- How many pages does your website have? - More information = more important site!
- With what frequency is your site updated? - The search bots don’t want to waste any time by visiting a site that is never updated.
My goal at the moment is to update Business Blogger at least three to four times a week. This is not out of reach by any means. For someone with more time to dedicate to their project I would even recommend updating your site once a day or more. The whole goal here is consistency.
If you keep your website updated frequently then the search engines will come back to spider you more often. I have been at this for just a couple of weeks and I already have search bots coming back on a regular basis. Update frequently = search bots visit your site = more web pages get indexed by the engines. Now your site is more important.
